Bilateral DFIs: These are established by individual countries and typically focus on development projects in specific regions or countries.
What is the minimum capital requirement for DFIs?
6 billion (if operating with 6 - 50 branches) and Rs. 10 billion (if operating with more than 50 branches). DFIs are required to maintain an MCR of Rs. 6 billion.

DFIs use these concessional funds to blend with their ordinary capital (together, referred to by DFIs as “blended concessional finance”), to invest on below market terms to reach companies and projects they might otherwise not support given their commercial mandate.

THE WORLD BANK MANDATE
World Bank assistance is generally long-term and is funded by member country contributions and by issuing bonds.
The IFC is the largest Development Finance Institution (DFI) making up c. 38% of global DFI investments and it is the only multilateral DFI with a global reach.
CDC is the UK's development finance institution (DFI). It invests in viable private businesses in poorer developing countries to contribute to economic growth that benefits the poor. CDC is the oldest in a set of bilateral, regional and multilateral DFIs, known as the wider 'DFI architecture'.
Evaluations of the impact of DFIs find that their investments do make a positive contribution to employment and productivity, both directly and indirectly. There also seem to be positive links between DFI investments and economic growth.
Is AFC a DFI?
Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) is a pan-African Multilateral Development Financial Institution established in 2007 by sovereign African states to provide pragmatic solutions to Africa's infrastructure deficit and challenging operating environment.
The top ten donors contributed $32.3 billion to FIFs in the last five years, comprising 36 percent of the total contributions. The United States remains the largest donor to FIFs, followed by the United Kingdom and Japan.
