CAROL'S OBITUARY
On August 13, 2020, our beautiful mom, gram, sister and friend Carol Ann Loux passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer and took flight with the angels for her next adventure. “Fly High Our Little Butterfly “Always looking and feeling younger than her age, she was born on November 10, 1942 to the late Chester and Stasia “Pat" Ladyga. Carol grew up in Clifton, New Jersey as the oldest child with siblings Kathy and Chet. Carol moved to Vermont in 1973. Working at Jay Peak Resort and then at North Country Hospital where she retired in 2007. Carol always liked helping people and problem solving. It was while working at Jay Peak that she met the love of her life Buddy. They were married on May 9, 1987. Always up for an adventure, in 1981 Carol and Buddy took a cross country motorcycle trip on Buddy’s 1977 Honda 750 quite to the surprise of her children and family. At 50 she learned to ski, taking a ski trip out west, skiing at different resorts along the way. Always wanting a sailboat, they rented one in the Caribbean and sailed to the different islands for a month. Carol and Buddy loved to travel and started going to the island of St Maarten in 1993. When they both retired in 2007, they bought a scuba diving shop and one-way tickets for the winter. In St. Maarten, Carol became a rescue scuba diver while Buddy became a dive master. They had 2 great winters there before Buddy got sick. Carol still kept her partnership in the dive shop and would go back to St. Maarten every May to vacation, dive and visit the friends they had made over the 25 years of going there. Never one to sit still, Carol went back to work at Jay Peak in the winter months after Buddy's passing. That was her form of retirement. This time at the ski school desk. She loved her job and all of her coworkers. We always shook our heads as to why she would go to work at Jay in the winter months when she could have been somewhere much warmer. But her coworkers were also her family and it was most evident to us when she became sick and the love, support and generosity everyone showed lifted her spirits and ours. Since she wasn't much older than most of them, she would always be there as a good listener, good morning smiles, cupcakes and hugs. Hugs were her thing. Never could give or get enough of them.
At 71 she decided she wanted to try skydiving. Never solo. She would say, why would I want to jump alone when I can be tied to a young hot Australian male. She went on to do this 4 times and convinced a few members of her family to join her. She was ready for a 5thtime this summer as well as driving cross country to visit family and friends along the way. Carol served as a Justice of the Peace for the town of Jay and was always honored when a couple asked her to be part of their special day. She was also involved with the Jay Focus Group and whatever other group her good friend Peggy could drag her too. Carol was blessed to have three children. She was the Matriarch to us. Daughter Cindy and her husband Don and their children Garett and Bria. Son John and his wife Cindy and John's sons, John and Anthony and Anthony's partner Karen Gagne. Son Joel and his partner Michelle and Joel’s sons, JC and Denver. She was Nani to her great grandson Jaxx who kept her on her toes and by whom the sun rose and set. Carol’s sister Kathy and husband Joe, nephews Brian and Jason. Her brother Chet and his partner Patty. Her special Jay Village Inn Thursday night family, her Jay Peak Resort family and the many friends she made along the way.
She was predeceased by her love Buddy, her grandson Anthony and her parents.
Carol asked that you take an extra moment to smile and hug that special person in your life.
