Should Laezel turn her back on Vlaakith? ›

Generally speaking, you shouldn't force Lae'zel to obey Vlaakith. If she goes against Vlaakith, Lae'zel leaves for the Astral Plane at the end of the game and leads a rebellion to save her people. If she sides with Vlaakith, Withers implies that she meets a much darker fate during the epilogue party.

You should enter the artifact because even if you do, you still do not have to do what Vlaakith or anyone else says, and you will get to meet your Guardian face-to-face. If you do not obey Vlaakith, she will kill your entire party, and you must restart. You must at least pretend to go along with the orders.

The Confrontation with Vlaakith

It's crucial to heed Vlaakith's command at this juncture, as defiance or disrespect could spell instant doom for your party, especially in the unforgiving Honor Mode. If you choose to wave politely to Vlaakith, you'll get a funny cutscene. Don't do this in Honor Mode.

Vlaakith is the imperious queen of the githyanki. A deathless lich of nearly-divine strength, she has used the prior millennia to fashion githyanki society around her image, imbuing in her gith subjects a loyalty bordering on fanaticism.

If you decide not to do Lae'zel's main quest to find the creche, she will leave unless you can persuade her to stay with you. If you do the creche and refuse Vlaakith's order to enter the mysterious artifact, Lae'zel will turn on you if her approval isn't high enough. This will force you to fight and kill her.

This ends up being a non-decision as far as the long-term story goes, but that hardly means it doesn't matter. If players are willing to part with the artefact, characters like Shadowheart and Astarion see this as a bit of a breach of trust.

This lets you meet Vlaakith and you are asked to kneel. Kneeling gets Lae'zel's approval.

While this confrontation is unavoidable, players can benefit from it by progressing in the Lae'zel storyline in Baldur's Gate 3.

Vlaakith is a Deity in Baldur's Gate 3. Deities are worshiped all along Faerûn, and you must select one when creating a Cleric. Deities impact how NPCs react to your character, and some events may unfold differently based on the God you worship. There are no other gameplay implications depending on the Deity chosen.

One of the most striking examples of this principle is found in 1 Samuel, where the prophet Samuel declares to King Saul: “Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? If you choose to transform, Lae'zel will likely return with Orpheus to free her people from Vlaakith. If you allow the Emperor to kill and assimilate Orpheus, Lae'zel will likely abandon the party unless you succeed in a very difficult check.

If you completely ignore Lae'zel or persuade the Tieflings to leave but don't free her, she will eventually escape by herself and make her way to the Gith'yanki patrol near the Mountain Pass. Here she will have another chance to join you if you're able to negotiate with the Gith.
